Match Day 3

The beginning of the fakers’ 09/10 season went off to a dismal start with a 0-1 loss to FC MUSCLES.

However, the team has shown significant progress defensively. It is much better organized and clearly, Chin wee added the steel that our defense badly need.

However, a defensive lapse in the first half from the tough tackling central defender cost us the goal that separates the two sides. The mistake leave an obvious taint on Chin Wee’s otherwise perfect rating on match day 3.

Interestingly, some might disagree, but the goal seems to closely resemble Lee Cong Vinh goal that knock Singapore out of the recent AFF cup semi finals, not to mention, Chin Wee looked like the disillusioned Ismail Yunos in the process. While that goal broke the heart of many Singaporean, Chinwee’s mistake gave us someone to blame for the lost.

However, all is not lost, every failure must be seen as a stepping stone to success.
Clearly, the midfield displayed good passing, stringing passes around and making a fool of FC MUSCLES players in front of their own entourage of scantily-clad female fans, probably winning some accolades from them in the process.

In the attacking third, the striking punch is still lacking. Even with the inclusion of jianzong, dubbed the next “berbatov” by teammates in the starting lineup, all the attack could do was pull a few shots into row Z. However, the second half substitution of speedy striker Daoliang did gave the attack a new dimension but no goals.

The game also show a high level of display of sportsmanship from the two team which compete fairly despite an incompetent referee that created many controversies.

Clearly missing were the fury temper of the vice captain Hee Mingkai and the reactive style of flamboyant winger Tan Eng Hui who manage to keep temper under control.

Defensive midfield workhorse Clive in particular gave FC MUSCLES players’ overwhelming physical advantage a snide insult by running circles around their players even though he seems to be only 1/3 their size. Clearly Clive must have reminded some of us of the resilient style of Barcelona central defender Carles Puyol. A potential first choice defensive midfielder in the making.

Weakness in the air is badly exploited by the flank play of the opposition as they exploited our aerial limitations through the corner kicks and cross. An area we can look forward to working on in Yuhua primary school, aka Carrington, in the weeks ahead.

A rather good result considering the quality of possession we had and the lack of supporters (female) in the stand.

FULLTIME: Truefakers 0-1 FC muscles
